Call For Art Submissions

Calling all graduating senior artists!  This year's DM Art festival is dedicated to YOU! The seniors who had goals and visions impacted by COVID-19, cancelations of long awaited ceremonies, events and final performances. Our hearts go out to you. For this reason, we are making sure your graduating year will end, possibly, even more magical than the one you had envisioned before this pandemic took over. The festival will be a night of graduating senior’s works from all over the nation as well as special keynote speakers who are highly respected, experienced and caring individuals in the professional performance art world who wish to pass along mentoring advice to you as you step into this next chapter of life. We will also be awarding 5 scholarships to go towards college and/or your next step in your artistic journey.  As we plan and curate this year's event, we have no doubt that this will leave you feeling accomplished, fulfilled and inspired as you leave your senior year behind you.

Performance Submission Guidelines:

**You do not need to complete the scholarship submission to be considered for performance.

  • We encourage you to get creative with your video submissions. Be bold, be imaginative, be creative. Highlighting the current state of the nation and the COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to see your performances from your current environment (your living room, your bedroom, your driveway or backyard, the park across the street, etc.) We will not be accepting any videos from previous competitions or live performances. (Remember that this is a chance for you to perform your work one more time!)

  • We are accepting submissions from all performance-art genres.

  • All submissions should be on video and filmed as you want your work to be presented in the festival.

  • If you are using a phone camera to film, make sure you film it HORIZONTALLY.

  • Solos must not exceed 4 minutes.

  • We are only accepting solo work.

  • You must be a High School or College Graduating Senior, Class of 2020.

  • We will be selecting 25-30 works to be a part of the final festival. Submit soon as spots are limited!

Scholarship Submission Guidelines:

**You must complete both the scholarship submission as well as the performance submission to be considered for a scholarship.

  • To be considered for a scholarship, you must write an essay answering these questions:

  1. If you had someone invest $1,000 towards your future, how would you capitalize on this investment to help to project you and your talents boldly into this world?

  2. Has the recent state of the world and the COVID-19 Pandemic shifted you personally and how you envision your future? If so, elaborate on that shift.

  • To further acknowledge our young art creators, two out of the five scholarships will be going to students who have created original pieces of work (that you submit as your festival performance). This includes work that has been self-choreographed or self-written. In order to qualify for one of these specific scholarships, please answer this additional question:

  1. Tell us about your creative process specifically regarding this performance piece. (What or whom has influenced you? Why is this work important to you? What did you learn throughout your creative process? Etc.)

  • The top five essays will be chosen to receive scholarships towards their future. We are true believers that great works will come from you and your generation, so start here. Start with us and all those graduating seniors around the country who share your unique situation as a graduate.
